These are in no particular order. In my mind they are all tied for #1. This is just the order they came out of my brain. Keep in mind that these are just my favorites and when you limit a list to ten you have to exclude some very good choices.
10. The Wizard of Oz: As a young boy I thought Dorothy was kind of hot.
9. It’s a Wonderful Life: What if Clarence the angel showed George how everyone elses life would have been better if George hadn’t been born. It’s impressive how Jimmy Stewart aged from 10 years old to 40 and he played himself at every age.
8. Star Wars: Only the original will do. Sequels? we don’t need no stinkin’ sequels!
7. Nothing in Common: An early Tom Hanks classic. Last movie that Jackie Gleason ever made. A great romantic comedy that nobody but me remembers.
6. Summer School: This is one of those shut off your brain and enjoy mindless comedies. Starring Mark Harmon, Kirstie Allie and Courtney Thorne-Smith.
5. The Hangover: This one should stand the test of time as one of the best comedies ever.
4. Toy Story: This gets the nod here over Toy Story 3 because it was the original. Toy Story 3 has more humor for adults.
3. Field of Dreams: If you build it they will come. There was a voice in my cornfield too. That’s why I started this blog
2. Bull Durham: Funny movie even if you’re not a baseball fan.
1. The Princess Bride: I think this movie spawned more funny quotes that we remember than any other.

Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorites. And an oldie: The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) – returning WWII vets adjusting to new lives. Just a remarkable film.
I’ve seen Shawshank, but not start to finish because I had previously read the book. I’ll have to look up The Best Years of Our Lives.
Princess Bride, first movie I saw with my hubby. A classic!!

No way can I limit myself to a top ten. Someone is working on a list of 101, in order from best to least. I might do that, but all would probably be equal 🙂
The Blues Brothers! Another good one. You’re right, it’s incredibly difficult to limit my lists to 10, but that’s also part of the fun. As soon as I hit publish I’m always second guessing myself and thinking of other good choices.
That’s why I think I am going to come up with 100, 10 at a time. Of course, I will still miss some. Maybe I can break it down by genre somehow.
The genre idea is a good one. You should do it.

The Princess Bride is my all-time fav movie. Little did I know back in 1987 when the movie was released that I would end up living outside the city where the little boy (Fred Savage) was suppose to be from (I’m originally from Canada, so for me it is even more amazing). The screenplay actually mentions it although the movie doesn’t (Evanston, IL). Just my own little trivia, but having seen the movie a gazillion times makes it all the more special to me! cher xo

You seem a bit of a movie buff which always gets me as I am not. However, you will be pleased to know that Princess Bride anxiously awaits viewing as we have ordered it on Netflix at your suggestion. I will let you know how it is received.
I guarantee you’ll love it.
For me, “The Birdcage” gets top honors. If I ever start to feel a little “down,” I pop that one into the DVD and laugh my way to “up.” “Lady Hawk” is another “upper.”
