Long before they sang the theme song for Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe, The Rembrandts did have a legitimate hit song that hit number 14 on the Billboard charts. I should know because I bought the cassette tape.
Have a great Monday! ~Phil
what is a cassette tape? Just kidding mate! 😉
It was early 90’s. I hadn’t made the switch to CD’s yet. It’s possible I’m a year or two older than you but I’ll never admit to it.
Lol. Anything is possible. Am guessing we are roughly the same age-I could be older. This is me wincing in mock pain. 😉 Kids today will never know the joy of making a mix tape. Sigh.
I was going to say that you can make a mix CD, but that’s even dated because you just make playlists now.
This is very true. Now if you were to even mention ‘8 track’ well then you might just be ancient. Kidding. 😉
Hmm…you know about 8 tracks? You must be at least 50!
Lol. Not even close mate! I’ve read about them. Do you remember life before the internet when we used encyclopedia’s? A woman should never disclose her age or shoe size. Am pretty sure Marilyn Monroe said that and I was def not alive when she was born! Have a good evening.
I knew you weren’t even close to 50. I was just poking a little fun. I think my older brother might have had an 8 track. I remember encyclopedia’s but I don’t have any recollection of ever using one. Probably should have though.
Yes, I knew you were poking fun. That’s cool, that’s how I roll anyway. I def used my encyclopedia as I was a geek growing up. I mean wall flower. Sounds so much better!
Not sure if you got my response to this? I knew you were joking. Lol.
Yes I got your response. : )
Smartphones. You just gotta love ’em! 😉
I still think it’s just amazing that I can type something here and in two seconds you’re replying to it from there.
So crazy. I think about that all the time. Utterly mad.
Should the title of this post be different? Or am I horribly confused? (It wouldn’t be unusual for me to just be confused.) 😉 Regardless, The Replacements and The Rembrandts…they’re both pretty awesome. 😀
Thank you for pointing out my mistake. Good catch. I always mix those two bands up in my head. I’m also impressed that you know both!
I had no idea they sang that. I don’t think I know who else I would have thought sang it, but there you go 😀
I just like to be one of those hipsters that says “I knew this band was cool before everyone else heard of them.
I could out-hipster you and say that I knew of Rembrandt before The Rembrandts, but that would be silly 😀
Silly, but funny : )
This blog gives me inspiration
To you I’ll make a dedication
If I can successfully make
A poem about cassette tapes.
Marissa I know that you’re my blogging buddy,
But your incessant rhyming is driving me nutty.
On second thought I take that back, I’d like to see a poem about an 8 track.
Now you’re making me upset
Because I’m focused on cassettes
Which is what you’ll expect in my rhyme
8 tracks a bit before my time
LOL my first car had an 8-track player in it….ugh…….
LOL! Now that’s funny! Was it a Ford Pinto or a Chevy Nova?
I loved this song!!! And had no idea it was The Rembrandts. Thanks, Phil.
