TBT: Fake Your Own Life

(04/05/2014) If you are reading this I may already be dead. That’s an attention grabber eh? You know how some people fake their own death to get out of debts, marriages, or legal situations? I plan to fake my own life. Heck, most people are already faking their own life on social media, so why not take advantage of the modern technology?

The miracle that is social media will let me live on forever whether I actually do or not. Here’s my plan: Because Facebook let’s you write, save and schedule statuses to post to your page, I’ve already scheduled thousands of Facebook posts, Happy Birthdays and all, to cover many, many years. Don’t worry, I’ve also photographed a lot of meals and selfies that will appear on Instagram until I’m at least a hundred years old. Through Hootsuite I’ve scheduled tweets for my Twitter account. Trust me, you’ll want to follow me. They’re hilarious. On WordPress I’ve written hundreds of blog posts that are scheduled to be released for years to come. The Phil Factor will never die.

In the event that I outlive you I’d like all of you to take these steps now as well. Death is sad and I really don’t want to tolerate unpleasant feelings of loss. I think that if everyone did this the world would be a happier place.

As always, if you enjoyed #ThePhilFactor please share by Facebook, Twitter or re-blogging. You’d better at least hit like because if I’m already dead my ghost may come to haunt you.  Have a great weekend! ~Phil

  2. hahahahaha! Oh Phil, you’re hilarious! 😀

  3. Your ghost will come and haunt me if I don’t hit ‘like’? No pressure there mate! Please know that I don’t DO poltergeists. I mean. Luckily, hitting ‘like’ is never a problem when it comes to your posts. Oh, you changed your picture…its like you’ve got the world on your shoulders. Nice picture. 😉

  4. Reblogged this on brittanyfiederlein and commented:
This is every interesting..although in this atricle the author talks of “posting after death” companies and business owners can now pre-set posts to send over social media even when they are not on their computer. As a marketer you could literally set up a social media schedule and your social media will send out your pre- written tweets, pics, and statuses when designated so while you are out running your business, you don’t have to worry about stopping and sending a quick tweet. Pretty convenient.

  5. i love the dry humour, Phil. Good one!

    Best Wishes

  6. What a lovely sentiment
But the question must be made
Whether I am writing you today
    Or from beyond the grave…

  7. This is such an inspired idea I may join social media other than WP in order to play. We could set up elaborate online persona with personalities entirely in contrast to our real ones, and get them playing online games together. Perhaps some would meet in chat rooms, or on dating sites, and we’d see virtual love blossom between ghosts whose embodied selves would spit in each other’s eyes.

We will need alternate gossip rags, to report on Virtual Kardashian vs. True Kardashian, and who has the biggest —- (fill in the blank, depending upon frontal or dorsal preference).

Oh, Phil, you are a friggin’ GENIUS!!!
