Music Monday! Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness is a band, but Andrew McMahon of Orange County, California is also a person. Andrew McMahon was also Jack’s Mannequinbut Andrew McMahon is not a mannequin. He’s a person. Got all that?

If you’re a parent, you know how your kids can’t imagine that you were ever anything but a parent? His song Cecilia And The Satellite, which was hugely popular in 2015, is a song he wrote for his baby daughter, Cecilia, so that some day when she’s old enough to listen, she’ll know who her father was before she was born, but understand that she’s the center of his world now.

Have a great Monday! ~Phil

  1. Interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that song before. I’m always fascinated by song writers and the stories behind their songs.
    Happy Monday!

  2. Aw, I love this song. Although I think he could’ve worded the chorus better. Cecilia is the sky? No Cecilia is the world he’s orbiting. Rhyme that Andrew! I’m a pain in the ass, aren’t I?

  3. How sweet. I hadn’t known this was for a dude’s daughter, or ever paid attention to the lyrics. Good one, Phil. 😊

  4. I used to listen to Jacks Mannequin a few years back and kept meaning to look up what the story was with them now. Cheers Phil!
