Yup, first time ever. The reason? Gary Jeffries, another blogger who shows kindness and support for just about every blogger he comes in contact with with. In twelve years I’ve never done one of these, but because Gary of Fiction is Food nominated me, I decided to join in the fun.
The rules of this award are:
- Thank the person that nominated you and provide a link to their blogs.
- List the rules.
- Display the award on your own post.
- List seven facts about yourself.
- Nominate 15 bloggers for this award and comment on one of their posts to let them know you have nominated them.
I’m going to break the rules by not nominating anyone. Instead, if you read this and want to do it, consider yourself nominated. Here are 7 random facts about me.
1. Using the six degrees of separation theory, I may be the only person on Earth connected to Florence Henderson (Carol Brady) and Fidel Castro with only one person between me and each of them. You can read about it HERE.
2. I started blogging by writing about fantasy football and fantasy baseball in January of 2005.
3. I believe that I have the second longest continuously running blog in world history. I started The Phil Factor in April 2005 with THIS POST making fun of American Idol. This blog, Not Quite Perfect, is I believe the longest running blog in world history. You know how WordPress says that 28% of the internet is on WordPress? 10% of that is the backlog of my blog posts.
4. I have an annoying habit of using too much BOLD in my blog posts.
3. I like writing my blog better than my books and my dream would be for a newspaper editor to discover my blog and syndicate my Saturday posts as a humor column in newspapers across the country.
2. I have never eaten a pickle.
1. To celebrate getting signed by Amber Cove Publishing for my recently released book, I had the clock with the bloody hand print from my book cover tattooed on me.
So which fact was more surprising? The Fidel Castro/Carol Brady thing? The never eaten a pickle, or the tattoo of part my book cover? In general I’m not a fan of the tagging people with blog awards. I’m sure at least 15 of you have read this, so if you have and you want to share the fun, go ahead. Have a great Wednesday! ~Phil
Fun facts, Phil. Hugs.
Wait. Not one fucking pickle in your entire life? That has to be physically impossible. One never got slipped in between a burger patty and you ate it accidentally? I call bullshit. There’s a damn pickle on the side of every sandwich served in the lower 48. Relish? You’ve never had relish? No. No. This hurts me. It’s worse than you hating autumn.
Sorry Christine, but it’s true. There was one time I bit into a pickle that was in a burger but I immediately stopped. I tasted it briefly, but I didn’t actually even eat a tiny bit of it. I threw the burger away. And relish? Never! I’m not sure why, but that seems even worse than a real pickle.
Did you try pickle flavored crisps? I guess that wouldn’t count, but you’d know the flavour then!!
NO! I would never eat pickled flavored crisps! And I won’t eat salt and vinegar crisps either! I can’t even get past the smell of either of those.
But salt and vinegar is the best flavour! 🙁
Have you tried twiglets? They are a pretty amazing flavour too…
I’ve never even heard d of twiglets! If it involves vinegar I want nothing to do with them.
Nah. They taste like marmite.
I don’t know what marmite is either! I think I’ve heard of it
Oooh you should try it! 😀
If you can’t find it, look for vegemite.
Or you can look on your tube and watch as other people try it for the first time.
I will. We have a U.K. section in my grocery store
Oooh I hope they have twiglets!
I’ll look for them!
You are my hero!
Another like me? Welcome to the club. I imagine that if we planned a menu it would be pretty dull to others
Not our fault their tastes have been polluted
I can’t believe the tattoo thing! And the pickle thing. Thanks for the ‘shout out’ to my blog. I think the award for longest running blog goes to the Daily Illuminator which has apparently been going since 1994. Having said that, Phil Factor would win on points / entertainment value.
LOL, Thanks Jennifer! I don’t know the Daily Illuminator. I’ll have to look that up!
My LiveJournal has been going since 2001, but I made most of the entries ‘friends only’ so they’re not visible to the public.
The tattoo surprised me most. I don’t like pickles by themselves, or relish, but salt and vinegar crisps, as suggested by one of your other readers, are excellent. So is Marmite, on hot buttered toast or in cheese sandwiches. 🙂
Wow! Since 2001! That’s great! I guess I’ll have to get some marmite and try it.
I’m most impressed by the pickle accomplishment. I HATE the things, but they have this secret death wish and keep sneaking into my food. I think my husband and children just like to see the look of disgust that takes over my face.
