Well, to be honest, readers are an authors best friend. And sometimes their spouse. Not the readers spouse of course, the authors. Reviews are a really close and important third.
I’ve done some research into Amazon’s algorithm for ranking books and it’s not just sales that effect a books ranking but also reviews. I noticed earlier this week that my books rank rose after a new, positive review. The higher a book is ranked, the more it shows up in those “Because you liked this, you might also like this” or “Recommendations for you” lists.
So, long story short, if you’ve read my book or the books of any of the independent authors you know online, one of the best ways to support them is to take a minute to review their book on Amazon.
