Why am I going back to this day in 2005 for my Music Monday? Because I’m celebrating the 12th anniversary of #ThePhilFactor! I was going to feature the two songs that were number 1 on this date in the U.S. and in the U.K.. Like, I said, I was going to feature both, but the U.S. no.1 that week was Candy Shop by 50 cent. The video, which you can watch by clicking the link, was… ahem… not exactly family friendly, so I chose to just leave the link for you deviants. Then I lucked into this next gem that was the U.K. number 1 for seven weeks, including April 3, 2005. Make no mistake, this is awful and embarrassing, but I’ll give it some context: It’s a song that was originally popular in the U.K. in 1971. The video, made for Comic Relief, features a U.K. comedian, Peter Kay, lip syncing the original audio sung by Tony Christie. The video is funny because of it’s ridiculous badness.
Have a great Monday! ~Phil
