#MondayBlogs Suzie81Speaks

This weeks featured blog on Monday blogs (if my blog scheduling worked) is Suzie81 Speaks. Suzie is not the 81st Suzie. I believe the 81 refers to her year of birth. Lots of blogs have agendas. Some aim to educate, entertain, or promote a cause. Suzie’s blog does not of that.

Considering that Suzie has no agenda to promote or consistent theme it is amazing that she has accumulated several thousand followers in a little over a year. Maybe it’s the personal touch. I think Suzie responds to virtually every comment on her blog. Considering the fact that she is employed full-time as a school teacher I don’t know how she finds the time.

Reading Suzie’s blog is like having a conversation with a friend. Sometimes it’s opinions on social issues, sometimes she’s responding to other bloggers posts, sometimes it’s an update on her life with The Bloke, and other times she’s showing off some great photos she’s taken.

If you’ve got a few minutes to sit down for a spot of tea and a chat go visit Suzie 81 Speaks.

#MondayBlogs Steve Says…

For those of you new to me or who just haven’t read me the last few Mondays, this is my regular feature where I highlight a blog from someone else that I enjoy. Why the #MondayBlogs ? By hashtagging, when this title appears on Twitter Rachel Thompson of @BadRedHeadMedia and @MondayBlogs retweets hoping to spread the blog love far and wide every Monday.

Do you like music? Steve Says… is a blog that’s a lot about music and a little about Steve’s cats and Dr. Who. You don’t have to like cats or Dr. Who to like Steve’s blog, but you do have to like music. His most popular weekly feature is the weekly Monday Music Mix where Steve posts three questions and then commands his readers to:

1) Go to the music player of your choice and put it on shuffle

(2) Say the questions aloud and press play

(3) Use the song title as your answers

(4) NO CHEATING

Title your post “Steve’s Music Mix – Week…” and link back to that week’s page.

This feature is tremendously popular across the blogiverse as I see many of my peers posting their Steve Says.. question responses every Monday. Steve may wonder why he never sees my Monday Music Mix responses. The answer is that my iPod is out in my car, so I never have it handy when I’m online, but I think I may have commented on every Doctor Who reference I’ve seen.

You don’t have to participate in the Monday Music Mix to enjoy Steve’s blog though. Many of his posts are about music. A lot of them are about the Eurovision Song Contest, which is an annual song contest held amongst the European countries. Each country submits a song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for other countries songs to determine the most popular song in the competition. The contest has been running and on TV every year since 1956.

So enjoy the fun and spread the musical mania far and wide by visiting Steve Says… today and participate in the Monday Music Mix.

Have a great week! ~Phil

#MondayBlogs Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth

My new feature, in case you missed it last week, is #MondayBlogs, inspired by Rachel Thompson of Bad Redhead Media on Twitter. We all want people to read our blogs, but that’s a little self-centered isn’t it? On Twitter Rachel encourages people to tweet the twitter handles of their favorite bloggers every Monday with the hastgag #MondayBlogs and she and hundreds of others retweet, spreading the blog love far and wide. I’m trying to do the same thing here.

This weeks blog is Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth by Marissa Bergen. The title is perfect as is the address which is www.RockandRollSupermom.wordpress.com, which is fitting because Marissa and her twin sister were the leaders of a popular NYC girl punk band in the 90’s.

What I love every time I go to her page is that at the right on the top instead of the usual “About Me” tab she has a tab titled “Who the hell is Marissa Bergen?” Gives me a little laugh every time.

What can you expect when you visit Marissa’s blog? Snarky, sarcastic poetry. She’s kind of like Shel Silverstein after a bad day in rush hour traffic. It’s not always poetry. Sometimes it’s her musings on anything that comes to her mind, but it’s always funny. If you’re not familiar with her, go check her out. One my recent favorites of hers is Passover for Dummies. Instant classic.

Have a great Monday! ~Phil

#MondayBlogs: Don Charisma

I’ve decided to start a new feature on The Phil Factor. I was inspired by Rachel Thompson of Bad Redhead Media, who every Monday on Twitter encourages people to share Twitter handles for bloggers they like and she retweets them. I do this, but not everyone who reads my blog follows me on Twitter, so I figured I’d take Rachel’s idea to my blog each Monday so you might have a chance to discover someone new and interesting.

Today’s blogger is Don Charisma, which may or may not be an assumed name. There are two reasons I love his blog: 1) his tagline: “because anything is possible with Charisma”, and 2) he’s a brilliant photographer.

Blogging seems to be about writing about ones self, but Don provides spectacular pictures with explanations about the place and how he took or created the picture. And he has his own logo, see it there in the bottom right of the picture?

As I said, blogging is often self-indulgent, and that’s ok, but let’s take a day a week at least to show some appreciation for the time others take to entertain us on the interwebs. After you visit Don at: DonCharisma.org why don’t you do your own #MondayBlogs ?

I’ve hashtagged the title so that when this shows up on Twitter it will be retweeted by the awesome Rachel over at Bad Redhead Media. You can find me on Twitter: @ThePhilFactor and you can find Don @Don_Charisma    Have a great Monday! ~Phil
