The masks are not very flattering. If I had known I was going to get Covid, I would have ordered one of these:

This is masking up in style!
Now that’s a badass mask, right? This one was on ebay for $268. Btw, as God is my witness, I will own one of these someday. I can imagine several situations where I could wear this, some for adults only. On the listing for this one it said “Used“. That thing is about a hundred years old! Who used it, Captain Nemo? If you don’t know who Captain Nemo is, let me tell you first that he is in no way related to Nemo the fish.

Nemo the fish from Disney fame. I just rode his Disney World ride last week.
Trust me, me getting Covid is as big a surprise to you as it is to me. If I can get it, anyone can. I have a great immune system. I’m not bragging. It’s nothing I did. I think it’s just lucky genetics. The last time that I was sick with a viral illness was in 1985. But I’m not cocky about my immune system, I’m just lucky. But heed my words when I say that if I can get it, anyone can. Granted, Covid has been around about four years and I never got it until now. In addition to having the worlds greatest immune system, I have had five Covid vaccines.
Unfortunately, my super immune system and my five covid vaccines were not a match for one tiny viral molecule that found its way into my lungs. Remember six days ago when I posted this column about how crazy the state of Florida is? I think I jinxed myself. I actually went to Florida last week and the universe decided to teach me a lesson. Apparently karma is a thing.

I have a job where I walk into medical offices every day. You know who’s in medical offices? Sick people! Lots of them. For five years I’ve risked my life walking into germ filled doctors offices and not once did Covid get me. Then 5 days on vacation in Florida, and it’s instant Covid. I don’t know what the moral of this story is, but I sure hope that Florida doesn’t read this and send some kind of plague for me. Maybe I’d better order that scuba helmet now…
Don’t worry, I typed this with a mask on. Have a great Thursday! ~Phil
